Blue Skies and Wheeled Loaders in Eskilstuna

My Swedish friend and regular contributor to the Digger Man Blog Facebook group Robert Carlsson has been out and about in his home city of Eskilstuna and has shared some photos with us.

Blue Skies and Wheeled Loaders in Eskilstuna

From what we are hearing Sweden appears to be slightly less affected by this dreaded corona virus (Covid-19) than other parts of the world, with regular day to day working life in the construction industry continuing, but with people taking the necessary extra precautions of course including social distancing. Gatherings of more than 50 people are banned, but most restaurants and pubs are still open under controlled measures for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Eskilstuna is also home to the famous Volvo Construction Equipment Customer Centre, where they hold regular events for customers of Volvo construction products and product launches for the world trade press.

In the past Robert has worked at the Volvo facility as a demonstration operator, but on a daily basis he is a contractor and machinery owner/operator. Most days he travels along the E20 highway which goes right past the Volvo facility. Most recently he spotted two Volvo wheeled loaders which are on display on some dedicated hard standings within the grass verge and kindly stopped by the grab some shots of them.

The two models currently on display are the latest H Series wheeled loaders, an L220H and the L260H which is the second largest shovel in the Volvo line up. The L260H has an operating weight ranging from 34,000kgs to 39,000kgs depending on specification and can carry buckets ranging in capacity from 5.3 to 10.2m3. The machine is powered by a Stage V emissions compliant Volvo D13J diesel engine offering a power output rating of 310kw (416hp) at 1,500 rpm.

Learn more about this machine in this promotional video from Volvo Construction Equipment.
