Classic 10-RB Film Footage (#ThrowbackThursday)
We do love the old stuff here on the Digger Man Blog and while searching on You Tube over the weekend, I came across this clip, which I assume is taken from a longer Ruston-Bucyrus promotional film from back in the day.
It transpires that this video was compiled, narrated and produced by fellow Earthmovers Magazine contributor and globally renowned construction equipment author and expert Keith Haddock.
The video was put together for the Historical Equipment Association, and features the famous 10-RB working in a number of configurations that were available for these machines in those days, including, dragline crane, rope-controlled excavator, skimmer, and grab crane.

The 10-RB made its first appearance in 1934, and with various upgrades along the way, continued in production right up until 1968, during which time some 7,600 units were produced, so a seriously long production timeline.
The machine was effectively based on the American designed Bucyrus-Erie 10-B model, but with a different engine for the UK market and a different style cabin.

The grainy old footage really makes you appreciate the machines we get to operate these days, and no air conditioning or Bluetooth compatability in these old girls!
