Classic Poclain Runs Again at Vintage Working Event
My old friend, machinery enthusiast and author Jeremy Rowland, has an ever-expanding number of classic excavators, the renowned Hymac aficionado kicked off his collection with a 580BT model, and it was joined by a Poclain 75CKB in early 2018.
As I understand it, those two machines have since been joined by a Ruston Bucyrus 220RH, and Jeremy’s latest acquisition a rare old Hymac 690, all of these machines reside at the premises of well-known classic plant man Andrew Beaulah, in Beverley, East Yorkshire, which is a considerable trek from Jeremy’s home in the West Midlands.
The 1983 Poclain 75CKB has clearly been something of a labour of love since Jeremy purchased her, God only knows how many hours he has put into getting her back into shape both mechanically and cosmetically, let alone how much it has cost him. But I have to say he has done a cracking job, as the before and after photos in this post show.
I was delighted to discover on You Tube, that the machine was working once again at the working day event held in March this year. For those of us with fond memories of the famous French brand, its great to see that enthusiasts like Jeremy are keeping the dream alive.
You can find out more about Jeremy's classic excavator collection by following his posts on the Classic Machinery Network forum.
Checkout the machine in action below being operated by Jeremy’s friend on the day.
