Diggers Executive Hire Show Highlights (Part Three: JCB)

British manufacturer JCB was once again located in its regular spot at the Executive Hire Show, the prominent position is ideal to greet visitors as they enter the hall and its always my first port of call at this event.

Diggers Executive Hire Show Highlights (Part Three: JCB)

The first machine to catch the eye was JCB’s smallest ever Loadall telescopic handler the 514-40. The telehandler is powered by a low maintenance 18.4kW (24.7hp) diesel engine that meets the EU Stage 5 emissions standard without the need for a complex Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or any diesel exhaust fluid, reducing operating costs for customers and simplifying operation.

This 3-cylinder, 1.1-litre engine, which boasts 66.9Nm of torque, drives through a proven Bosch hydrostatic transmission to a 2-speed Linde motor, delivering a maximum travel speed of 15km/h. There's also permanent 4-wheel drive and 4-wheel steering.

The maximum lift capacity is 1,400kg, while maximum lift height is set at 4m, making this an ideal machine for numerous industry sectors, reckons JCB. Lift capacity at full reach is set at 525kg. With an unladen weight of 2,695kg, the machine boasts a 17% higher power-to-weight ratio than the previous 516-40 Loadall.

One thing I noticed is that it might be a small machine, but it still benefits from a large spacious cab, largest in its class according to JCB.

Also, of interest to Digger Man Blog readers, was the 19C-1E electric mini excavator. Electric machines always are always an emotive topic on the blogs social media platforms, but it’s the way things are heading for the time being at least.

JCB certainly think it’s the route for small machines and they recently celebrated the production of its 1000th model.

JCB also displayed examples from its E-TECH power pack range and the S19 30 electric battery powered scissor lift.
