Gearing Up for Bauma (Komatsu)

In the latest in our Gearing Up for Bauma series, we take a look at some of the machinery we can expect to see on the Komatsu stand, where the manufacturer is set to premiere 13 new machines in Munich.

Gearing Up for Bauma (Komatsu)

One of the highlights for excavator, owners, operators and enthusiasts at Bauma will be the long-awaited debut of the Komatsu Dash-12 excavator range, among them being the PC220LCi-12.

The excavator offers customers new, and completely unique, iMC 3.0 features. In addition to setting new standards of productivity and efficiency, the machine benefits from a completely new cab design focused on maximizing operator comfort, and seamless connectivity solutions make digital jobsite transformation even easier. I’m told the new cab is next level stuff, so its going to be interesting to see these new machines.

Another highlight will be the new Dash 11 wheeled loaders WA475-11 and WA485-11, these machines have been developed by Komatsu Ltd, and manufactured at the Komatsu Germany GmbH – Construction Division facility in Hannover.

These two new models are said to be packed with unmatched power and fuel efficiency, enabled by a powerful, high-torque engines with an HMT transmission. The wheel loader also features significantly increased payload and bucket capacity, meeting EU Stage V emissions standards with a long-lasting diesel particulate filter.

Naturally on the outside demo plot, it’s the big kit that catches the visitor’s eyes during the regular exciting demonstrations. Fans of big wheeled loaders will be able to see the latest version of the WA700-8 which will be working alongside the 60-tonne HD605-10 rigid dumptruck.

However, the ultimate BIG attraction will undoubtably be 700-tonne PC7000-11E electric powered hydraulic mining excavator. These giant machines are always a showstopper during the demonstrations, and come from a proud heritage of mining shovel production in Germany, by Komatsu Germany GmbH’s mining division in Düsseldorf. As far as I'm aware this will once again be the largest hydraulic excavator at the exhibition.

At the other end of the scale, expect to see more electric powered excavators at the live demo area inside Hall C6, where you will be able to see the PC33E-6, and pre-production models of the PC20 and PC26 Electric mini excavators. Also in the indoor sand pit, will be the PC138E-11 and PC210E-11 which were showcased previously.

Continuing to showcase the partnership between Formula One team Williams Racing and Komatsu which started in 2024, Komatsu will be presenting a specially liveried HB365LC Hybrid excavator, adorned in the Williams Racing colour scheme.

For the tech heads there will be plenty to see including Komatsu’s Smart Construction which will see several products which are designed to improve site operations.
