Going Underground with Epiroc Mine Trucks

Also displayed at Minexpo last month was Epiroc’s new Mintruck MT66 S eDrive underground mining truck.

Going Underground with Epiroc Mine Trucks

Along with an upgraded and powerful Stage V emissions compliant John Deere diesel-engine, producing a power output rating of 660kw (858hp) the 66-tonne load capacity hauler combines, according to Epiroc, the cost-effectiveness of a traditional mine truck with the productivity of an electric one – without requiring change to any particular mine’s infrastructure.

The Minetruck MT66 S eDrive has been completely redesigned to feature an electric drivetrain, whilst being powered by what is the strongest engine yet installed in Epiroc’s range of underground mining trucks.

With several other upgrades, such as weight reduction and better utilization of the engine’s sweet spot, the truck can reach up to 11% higher ramp speed compared to Epiroc’s current line-up of models.

By their very nature, these machines are rarely seen above ground, or at least outside of a mining environment so it’s great to take a look at them, I am sure it would make for a very interesting Earthmovers site visit one of these days.
