Historic Kit Rolls Out for Bamberg Meeting #ThrowbackThursday

Our German friend, machinery operator and journalist Dirk Bömer has sent over a few shots from another recent event he attended and I’m delighted to share them here on the blog.

Historic Kit Rolls Out for Bamberg Meeting #ThrowbackThursday

This event took place in the Bavarian town of Bamberg, where construction equipment enthusiasts gathered for the first meeting of the summer, with many more to come over the following months according to Dirk.

A number of classic machines and trucks were seen working including the well-known O&K RH6LC Series-D hydraulic excavator which dates around 1978, and was loading a ‘Maggie Deutz’ lightweight tipper.

The star of the show was a 15-tonne class Poclain LC80, which featured a TAB boom configuration which was rather rare in its day, power comes from a 6-cylinder Deutz air cooled engine.

Performing a dual loading operation were two machines from the Hanomag stable, the 13 tonne, 55 D wheeled loader with a 2.5m3 bucket, and the Hanomag L600D tracked loading shovel with a bucket capacity of 1.8m3 which had an operating weight of 17.3-tonnes

Seen from the cab of the O&K RH6LC, mid-sized wheeled loaders were represented by another German machine the O&K L20 which had an operating weight of 11.0-tonnes and a 2.0m3 bucket capacity. Dated around 1990, this machine had a custom blue and white livery instead of the more familiar red and white we associate with Orenstein & Koppel machines.

We thank Dirk for sharing these images of working classics.
