In the Blue with Finland’s first Develon Machine
One of the highlights of my recent visit to the Mansen Mörinät event in Finland, was a stop by at the Real Machinery yard, where the dealer had assembled a vast selection of Develon (formerly Doosan) machines.
Amongst a sea of the more familiar orange machines, was a rather special blue custom painted demolition spec excavator which was the first Develon branded machine to be sold in Finland, and has been delivered to Tampere based Toivonen Demolition Oy.
The machine in question is a DX380LC-7 which tips the scales at around 47-tonnes, and is fitted with a Demarec DRP-45 pulverizer, and a Steelwrist SQ80 quick-coupler. In keeping with modern demolition spec machine’s, the main boom has been straightened, with that work being undertaken by Dutch fabrication specialists SCM-Modifications.
The machine also features rubber side skirt impact protection, safety cage, and armoured undercarriage, which also includes rebar protection above the tracks at the rear to protect the upper-structure from steel bar being caught up in the tracks, a common problem in the all too often harsh demolition environment.
Power comes from a fuel-efficient Scania DC09 Stage V emissions compliant diesel engine, offering a power output rating of 326hp @1,800rpm, a Real Machinery spokesman said that average fuel consumption on the DX380LC-7 is around 17 litres per hour.
We were also on hand to witness the handover on the day, as Antero Toivonen CEO of Toivonen Demolition (left) shook hands with Jarno Saloniemi of Real Machinery. The DX380LC-7 is also Toivonen’s first Doosan/Develon brand machine to join their fleet.
