Kelston Sparkes add four new Bell B50D's
Kelston Sparkes Group, one of the largest and most recognised earthmoving contractors in the UK, has further improved its customer service by enhancing its Articulated Dump Truck fleet with four new Bell Equipment B50D Articulated Dump Trucks.
Adding to a taskforce of over 200 machines, the Bell B50Ds have been with the Kelston Sparkes Group since January 2015 and are currently proving their worth at a variety of quarry based functions, including earth moving, and load and haul.
Hauling loads in excess of 6km - a distance for any ADT - the B50Ds are demonstrating their versatility by coping well with this long haul quarry work, as Rob Stark, Director at Kelston Sparkes explains:
“These Bell B50Ds have been performing very well so far; hauling their designed loads at fast speeds, up and down the steep quarry gradients. Their load capacity, combined with an impressively low fuel consumption, are already making the model ‘one to watch’ within our fleet, particularly in terms of cost effectiveness.”
Rob goes on to say how satisfied the drivers are with the performance of the machines, which have been specifically designed to operate with less vehicle movement. This has been achieved through the B50D’s lower centre of gravity, all-wheel drive, high suspension and flotation tyres - which, compared to a rigid truck, aid better performance in a wider variety of surface and weather conditions. These factors, combined with an air suspension seat, make driver comfort and operational control first-rate.
Having been put through their paces in various quarrying environments, Kelston Sparkes’ Bell B50Ds have also been serviced by Bell Equipment. Rob describes Bell Equipment’s approach to the service procedure as being “very reactive, helpful, and quick to resolve any concerns or problems.”
In fact, Rob has been so impressed with his initial experience of Bell and its products, that he has a B30E on trial, with a mind to expand his fleet further.
“I’ve been very pleased with what the Bell product has to offer,” he continues. “The models we’ve bought and trialled have delivered when it comes to power, efficiency, reliability, and operational comfort. I hope the machines continue to perform at this level for many years to come.”
Richard Higgott, Sales and Marketing Manager at Bell Equipment responded to the report of Rob’s positive start with Bell by saying:
“Our B50Ds are in their element with quarry work, as they’ve been specifically designed for impressive performance in what can only be described as a challenging environment.
“It’s great to hear that Kelston Sparkes is seeing the results these machines are capable of and achieving the fuel efficiency, considerable workload and positive driver experiences they were hoping for, in addition to the effective customer service that comes as part of the Bell Equipment deal.”
