Liebherr’s R 9400 E Impresses Fortescue Mining

Fortescue Mining is leading the way in electrification in the Australian mining sector having already deployed the first 400-tonne class Liebherr R 9400 E electric mining hydraulic excavator in Australia.

Fortescue are big Liebherr end users and as announced recently during Minexpo 2024 in Las Vegas, the company have entered a groundbreaking partnership with Liebherr to supply a wide range of earthmoving and mining equipment going forward.

In the fascinating promotional video below from Liebherr we get more information on the two companies’ partnership and how the new electric powered machine has been performing in the famous Pilbara mining area of Western Australia.

This machine is certainly leading the charge (pun-intended) towards zero-emission mining down under. And above all else, its great to hear that the operators who are running it, absolutely love the machine and have no desire to go back to the more traditional diesel-powered variants.
