LiuGong’s On the East Side

The Digger Man Blog recently took a long journey across to East Anglia to catch up with LiuGong Direct UK’s Regional Sales Manager Simon Tobin, who kindly offered to show us around with some site visits to two of his customers.

LiuGong’s On the East Side

First up was a visit to the premises of Beccles based business Norfolk & Suffolk Plant Hire who were formed in 2014. This multi-faceted company is engaged in not only plant hire, but also offer skip hire services and the supply of screened aggregate.

The company have been investing in LiuGong construction equipment for some time now, talking about the latest arrivals which includes a number of 3.5-tonne class 9035E ZT zero tail swing mini excavators and the  9-tonne class 909E CR compact radius midi excavator, Norfolk & Suffolk Plant Hire’s Plant Manager Lee Spurgeon said, “We have found the machines to be very good in general, they all have solid well know components under the skin and are extremely competitive on price, which in general plant hire can make a massive difference, we are very happy with them”.

The company also run a LiuGong 856H wheeled loading shovel and have recently taken delivery of a demo spec 928E DM High Reach excavator. This 35-tonne machine features an 18-metre boom conversion by Ipswich based specialists Kocurek.

A trip across to Norwich in the afternoon followed to visit one of Anglian Demolitions major projects where the team headed by Site Project Manager Andy Elvin are taking down the buildings of the former Institute of Food Research (IFR). Anglian Demolition have also been quick to adopt the LiuGong brand into their fleet of machines which they feel offer great value for money and are ideally suited for the tough world of demolition.

On this particular job Anglian Demolition had a brace of 924E DM’s on the job, one fitted with an electro magnet attachment, while the other one was fitted with a bulk digging bucket. Both machines are fitted with OilQuick couplers for easy and fast changing of hydraulic attachments which Andy described as real game changers.

Andy Elvin himself was operating the 924E DM with a bucket on and he was keen to tell us about his high specification cab. It features a deluxe heated and cooled air suspension seat and is WiFi enabled which is a very handy feature in this digital world we live in today.

These demo spec machines feature full side skirt protection armouring, boxing ring fall from height protection, bucket cylinder protection guard, and full cab ROPS & FOPS guarding.
