Royal Cornwall Show 2024 Round Up (Part Three)

Rounding off the week with the penultimate look back at some of the highlights of the Royal Cornwall Show 2024.

Royal Cornwall Show 2024 Round Up (Part Three)

Molson Group

While attitudes to these kinds of shows generally appear to be changing slightly, Molson Group have always found the Royal Cornwall show a good place to do business and as ever, they presented a wide range of machines, with most being branded with local South West companies’ signage, ready to be delivered straight from the showground.

Standout machine on the stand had to be the big 38-tonne class Kobelco SK380SR LC which is heading for water pipeline installation specialists Hydroline Solutions.

In contrast the big blue machine was matched to a Finlay-Terex J-1160 mobile primary jaw crusher that has been purchased by long established, North Devon based earthmoving and contracting business Coles Plant Hire. I am expecting to visit the job where this unit is likely to be deployed in the not-too-distant future.

Up and coming civil engineering business Porteous Groundworks, had machines on a wide number of stands at the show, and on the Molson Group stand, we spotted a 2.5-tonne class Kobelco SK26SR mini excavator and an Ammann ARX 36-2 double drum vibratory roller.

At the top end of the display St Austell based DSW Demolition had a Hyundai HX145ALCR compact radius 15-tonne class hydraulic excavator. DSW have been long term Hyundai customers with Molson and that relationship looks set to continue going forward.

Another brand in the extensive Molson portfolio of products, is the Danish built Hydrema range, and on the stand was the ever popular 10-tonne class 912G compact low ground pressure articulated dumptruck, with this particular model sporting the new livery of Champion Groundworks.

JAW Plant Hire & Sales

Making what I believe to be their first official appearance as a stand-alone business at the Royal Cornwall Show was JAW Plant Hire & Sales.

Since its formation a number of years ago, Liskeard based JAW Plant has established itself as a go to source for machinery hire, machinery sales and more recently has expanded heavily into to the vacuum excavation sector, with at least 3 trucks on the road and available for hire across the South West.

On the plant sales front JAW are able to supply Hitachi construction machinery across the region, and had a good spread of machines on display on their stand.

The most impressive was the Zaxis 300LC-7 which was fitted with an Engcon tiltrotator and was one of a number of machines on the stand sporting the Champion Groundworks livery, including a Zaxis 130LCN-7 parked next to it.

Other machines included Zaxis 26U-6 mini excavator models that are heading straight into JAW’s extensive self-drive hire fleet.
