Royal Cornwall Show 2024 Round Up (Part Two)

Continuing our look back at the highlights on the construction machinery trade stands at the Royal Cornwall Show 2024.

Royal Cornwall Show 2024 Round Up (Part Two)

Kellands Plant Sales

Without a doubt the star attraction on the packed Kellands Plant Sales stand was the first public appearance in the UK of the Develon Europe DD130 dozer. This D6 sized tractor and the larger brother to the DD100, had been launched in the USA last year during ConExpo-Con/Agg in Las Vegas which is where we first got up close and personal with it.

Rumour has it that a Kellands customer in Cornwall is eyeing up the machine to join his fleet of Develon equipment so we will be keeping a close eye on developments.

This example has already been fitted with Leica Geosystems 3D machine control by One Point Survey Equipment and our great friend and industry colleague Peter Haddock took the opportunity during his first ever visit to the Cornwall show to chat with One Points Robert Elliott about the equipment, you can check out the interview below.

Personally, I don’t think I have ever seen the Kellands stand as hectic in all the years I have been attending the show, it was rammed with machines from their product portfolio, which in addition to Develon, includes, Avant, Mecalac, and Merlo machinery.

We had a great evening on the stand in the company of Managing Director Tim Hill and his team with plenty to chat about over a few sherbets, so thanks for the hospitality.

Take a look at my walkaround video in the evening sun.

CBL Plant Sales

Earlier in the day we stopped by to see our friends on the CBL Plant Sales stand, where fans of the Red & Grey Takeuchi mini excavators, were greeted by a Pink & Grey TB350R. This machine has been purchased by Barry Locke, who’s father Mo Locke, has been featured in articles I have had published in Earthmovers Magazine.

The machine which is fitted with an Engcon tiltrotator will as I understand it, be raising money for the very worthy Breast Cancer Awareness Charity. I am hoping to get out to visit this machine in due course for the magazine.

Over the years at the Cornwall Show, we have become accustomed to seeing blue & grey Takeuchi’s destined for Liskeard based Steve Hoskin Construction the CBL stand, and this year was no different, with this little TB210R model.

Also sporting the blue & grey livery was this Bomag BMP 8500 trench compactor, which is the first of its kind to be sold into the UK. For those heading to Hillhead this year, this unit will be on display on the Bomag-Fayat stand in the famous Buxton quarry.

Hamblys Ltd

The South West has been lacking a dedicated Bobcat dealer for quite some time. That situation has recently changed thanks to the appointment of long-established agricultural dealership Hamblys who will cover the counties of Cornwall, Devon and from next month, Somerset.

The new dealer showcased a number of products from the Bobcat range, including the popular sub-1-tonne E10z mini excavator, which was showcased as a package with a Towmate plant trailer.

The diesel-powered compact telehandler the TL25.60 was also displayed, followers of this blog may recall we recently spent time on the prototype electric version of this machine, during Bobcat’s Demo Days event in Dobris, Czechia.

The L85 compact wheeled loader was also on the stand, a very capable machine which I have also tried out at Bobcat’s facility in Czechia.

Bobcat are of course synonymous with the skid steer loader, and at the Royal Cornwall show Hamblys presented the compact tracked variant the T450
