Sunshine and Machinery in Stockholm

The day after my visit to Volvo CE in Sweden, the latest edition of Svenska Maskinmässan opened its doors to the public at its spiritual home of the Solvalla race track in Bromma near Stockholm.

Sunshine and Machinery in Stockholm

Unfortunately, I could not stay over for the event this time, but our great Swedish friend Robert Carlsson did visit and has kindly shared a selection of images from the show. I have attended this show twice in the past, and I like it very much, it’s a nice size and easily manageable and being in Sweden, there is always something interesting to see, especially in terms of hydraulic attachments and ‘pimping’ of the machines!

It wouldn’t be Sweden without a machine from Huddig, and the manufacturer from Hudiksvall presented a number of their prestige articulated backhoe loaders, including the 1370T ‘Tigon’ full hybrid model, which was equipped with man basket and rail bogies, it is set for delivery to contractor Staffare AB.

Red and grey fans in Sweden were treated to the Takeuchi TB395W wheeled excavator, typically fully specced up to Swedish standards, with extra lighting, auto-lubrication, GPS, two-piece boom and Rototilt tiltrotator. This unit was available to try out on the demo plot.

The biggest attraction at the show was a Cat D10 tracked type tractor which was a focal point on the Zeppelin Cat stand and was generating a lot of interest. With an operating weight 70256kgs, this beast is powered by Cat’s C27 diesel engine offering a power output rating of 449kw (602hp). Large dozers like this are relatively rare in Sweden with most working in the large mines in the north of the country.

Hidromek continue to gain friends in Sweden, and they have a new dealer since I was last visiting the country, namely GT Trading Entreprenadsmaskiner AB who are based right there locally in Stockholm. The HMK 145 LCSR was presented and available to test drive, fitted with a Steelwrist tiltrotator and dozer blade, and stunning it looked too.

Delvator AB is a long-standing dealer for Hitachi construction equipment in Sweden, and amongst a whole raft of machines they presented two electric powered models including the 14-tonne class ZX135-7EB. Electric powered machines have been better received in the Nordic territories than anywhere else in the world as they drive towards zero emissions.

Volvo dealer SWECON presented a wide variety of machines including some of the new models we had seen at Volvo Days on the previous day. On the smaller side of the electric machine range, they had the EC18 electric available for try out in a pit full of wood chip material.

Maskina AB the Develon dealer for Sweden presented a nice example of the six-tonne class DX 62R reduced counterweight midi excavator, suitably pimped up to Scandinavian spec, with tinted glass, roof mounted light bar, fire suppression system, auto-lube and Rototilt tiltrotator, it’s a fine example of this Korean manufactured machine.

We don’t tend to see much AIRMAN kit in the UK anymore, but GT Trading Entreprenadsmaskiner AB are also dealers for these in Sweden. Essentially the same machine as the Hitachi, the AX26U is a 2.5-tonne, zero tailswing machine which is just the right size for legally towing behind a 4x4.

What a beauty this Volvo EWR170E wheeled excavator is. It was appearing on the stand demonstrating the very latest systems and attachments from the green tiltrotator camp.

And finally, a piece of the UK in Sweden with this JCB 4220 Icon Nordic Edition Fastrac tractor, these units are really gaining favour with agricultural and construction contractors alike, for their speed, power and performance.

We thank Robert for sharing these images with us here on the Digger Man Blog.
