Vintage JCB 5C set for Restoration
Cornish plant contractors Andrew Bazeley and his son Jason, have recently added a JCB 5C hydraulic excavator to their collection of vintage machines which they plan to restore to its former glory.
This old machine which was originally manufactured by the Staffordshire based construction equipment giant in 1970, has spent many years lying locally, just a few miles away from their base in St Columb. It was first put up for sale about three years ago and they debated buying it then, but someone else snapped it up and they regretted not moving more swiftly to secure it then.
However, its new owner then decided to put it back up for sale earlier this year, so without hesitation they got her bought! The plan is to work on it during the summer when time permits to get her looking tidy and mechanically sound.
The machine joins a couple of other vintage machines in the Bazeley collection, namely a JCB 4D backhoe loader, and a Massey Ferguson MF 200 tracked loader complete with backhoe.
I have been invited down to see the machine in the summer once she has received some TLC for a retro test drive opportunity for Earthmovers Magazine, which will be one to look out for I’m sure.
In the meantime, here is some footage taken by Andrew of the machine in action at their yard, apologies for it being in portrait mode.
