Volvo’s Big Boy Makes a Bold Statement in Eskilstuna
My Swedish friend and regular contributor to this blog Robert Carlsson recently stopped by the Volvo Construction Equipment Customer Centre in his home town of Eskilstuna to snap a few shots of the latest machine to adorn the display plateau outside the facility.
As we have reported previously on this blog, Volvo Construction Equipment are very proud to showcase examples from their extensive range of construction and earthmoving machinery range outside the stunning facility, which has become a focal point for passing motorists in the Swedish city.
The Volvo CE Customer Centre has been present in this location for over 30 years and it really is a world class venue. Visitors who are lucky enough to attend this centre which covers an area of virtually one square kilometre, are in for a real treat. From the viewing gallery they are treated to amazing demonstrations of the manufacturer’s latest machines in front of a wonderful backdrop of typically Swedish pine trees and landscaped areas.
There are also dedicated test drive areas where you can get that all important “hands on” experience with the latest bits of kit and technology that is ever evolving at a company like Volvo CE.
The star attraction parked outside at the moment is the mighty A60H which is Volvo’s largest full production articulated hauler which was first launched into the market in 2016 and features a payload capacity of 55,000 kgs, and a heaped body volume of 33,6m3.
This beast of a truck is powered by Volvo’s own fuel efficient 6-cylinder D16J 16-litre diesel engine which offers a power output rating of 470kw (630hp) @1,800rpm.
With a gross weight of 98,750kgs, this truck is capable of lugging loads around at speeds of up to 55 km/h (34mph). The truck, which had its first public showing at the 2016 Bauma Trade Fair, has found great favour in the UK with Derbyshire based Collins Earthworks Ltd who are now running in excess of nine units.
You have to say it’s a really stylish looking ADT and cuts a dominating figure parked outside the facility!
