Yanmar Power Up at Bauma
With its brand-new all-red livery, and new and upgraded models, Yanmar Compact Equipment has effectively revitalised the brand and this was clearly evident as we took a walk around their stand at Bauma, which was affectionately known as ‘Yanmar City’
Yanmar presented no less than 26 machines on the stand, showcasing their offerings for the road construction, earthmoving, demolition and landscaping sectors.
Bauma 2022 will in my eyes, always be known as the year of the shows full charge towards electrification, with virtually every manufacturer displaying some form of electric battery powered machine.
Yanmar were no different, as they presented a dedicated zone for their state-of-the-art plug-in electric range of machines. Yanmar’s ever popular 1.7-tonne offering the SV17 was the first model to also get an electric makeover when it was unveiled as a prototype SV17e just over a year ago, and that machine now in full production was accompanied by two more models at Bauma.
Powered by all-electric drive and featuring an open-centre hydraulic system with load-sensing hydraulic pump, the SV17e has been designed to create an exceptional experience for the owner and the operator. Delivering 23.5 kWh gross electric power (19 kWh usable), the 48V air-cooled model offers impressive digging, lifting and carrying capability.
With a bespoke LCD operator interface and 400V optional fast-charging capability (230V standard), the SV17e guarantees the highest levels of comfort, ergonomics, precision and control. In normal working mode, a full charge provides 4.5 hours of digging time, or a four-hour mixed duty cycle (20% travelling, 80% digging).
Alongside the SV17e was the new C08e tracked carrier. Completing the line up of electric models was a working prototype of Yanmar’s first electric wheeled loader the V8e. Weighing in at 4,500kgs the machine features a standard 800 litre bucket. The production machine will feature a 40kwh battery capacity as standard but there will be an option to increase this up to 53kwh.
One of the highlights for me post Bauma has been Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA’s blooper video featuring all the outtakes from their recordings during the show. The Yanmar team are clearly fantastic sports allowing these clips to be used for which they must all be congratulated!
Its something I have always fancied doing for a bit of a laugh over the festive period, one day I just might produce a video featuring my numerous cock-ups from over the years!
