Andrews Plant JCB Archives

Peter Andrews has been a dedicated JCB customer ever since he set up his business in 1969 as an owner/operator having purchased a second hand JCB 3CII. Peter has remained faithful to the British built yellow machines to this day. Many of his machines have worked on major projects in the Dorset area over the years like this JCB 807B hydraulic excavator seen here at work on the Wareham bypass project. pic-9-807b-wareham-bypass-009 Andrews Plant Hire has had a long working relationship with the ball clay pits in the area, a scenario that continues to this day in fact. In this shot we see another JCB 807B at work in one of the ECC (English China Clay) run pits. The machine is seen loading what looks like a Volvo articulated hauler, which was also owned by Andrews. pic-8-807b-at-ecc-ball-clay-1981-008 During my previous chats with the man, Peter Andrews expressed that he was a big fan of the JCB 814 Super, an example of which can be seen below at work during the construction of the Wimbourne Bypass in Dorset. Also of note in this shot is an early JS240 excavator which also drew praise from Mr Andrews. pic-6-js240-and-814-wimborne-bypass Two photos now featuring a one of the companies JCB 820 Super hydraulic excavators at work mounted on a floating pontoon. pic-4-820-super-mike-jewel-004 The machine is fitted with what looks like a Montabert breaker and is busting out old harbour walls on what looks like a very hot summer’s day! pic-5-820-super-mike-jewel-005 Finally in this look back at the Andrews Plant archives we see a slightly grainy photo featuring a proud Peter Andrews (Left) accompanied by his young sons kitted out in matching JCB period overalls, taking delivery of 5 x JCB 3CX Turbo 4x4 backhoe loader models from Berkeley JCB who were the dealers at the time. pic-10-1987-berkeley-jcb-peter-andrews-012 The Digger Man Blog thanks Andrews Plant Hire and JCB for sharing these classic photos with us.
