Ernest Doe & Thwaites Dumpers secure major groundworks machinery deal with Tamdown Group Ltd

Ernest Doe & Sons has proudly worked with Tamdown, a leading groundwork provider in the South East of England for almost 30 years. This relationship has recently been further strengthened with the successful delivery of a fleet of high-performance dumpers from Thwaites. The deal highlights the continued trust Tamdown places in Ernest Doe’s expertise in construction machinery.

Tamdown’s latest requirements included 5 x 3-ton and 5 x 6-ton straight tip hydrostatic dumpers. These rugged, reliable machines were chosen for their superior build quality, innovative features, and proven performance in demanding environments. As construction activity intensifies across the South East, Tamdown recognised the importance of securing high-quality equipment to maintain productivity and ensure safety across their projects.

While competitive pricing was a welcomed benefit, Tamdown’s primary focus was the quality of the Thwaites machines and Ernest Doe’s service excellence. To provide further assurance, Ernest Doe arranged a personal visit to the Thwaites factory, giving Tamdown a first-hand view of the meticulous manufacturing process and a chance to meet senior management.

Nigel Booley, Area Sales Manager at Ernest Doe, explained, " It was important to us that Tamdown could see the exceptional quality of Thwaites’ machines for themselves. The factory visit provided them with valuable insights into the engineering expertise and attention to detail that go into every dumper. This reinforced the value of their investment and the high standards we uphold."

Paul Rodwell, Distributor Manager for Thwaites Dumpers, added, "We take pride in manufacturing machines that deliver both performance and safety for Thwaites owners and operators. This deal with Tamdown, facilitated by our long-standing distributor partnership with Ernest Doe, highlights the quality and reliability of our products. We’re delighted to see even more of our dumpers being used across Tamdown’s impressive portfolio of projects."

The Thwaites dumpers supplied to Tamdown will be deployed across major groundwork projects throughout the South East. These machines stand out due to their advanced safety features, such as front cameras, hydraulic SARs handbrake systems, and standard amber/green beacons with reversing alarms. Combined with proven durability from previous purchases, these features made the dumpers the ideal choice for Tamdown’s operations, enabling teams to work efficiently and with confidence.

Another critical factor in the successful delivery of this order was the availability of the required dumpers. Ernest Doe’s ability to provide immediate stock ensured that Tamdown could maintain momentum on their projects without delay. The rapid delivery of these premium machines highlights Ernest Doe’s commitment to supporting its clients’ operational needs.

Mark Cain, Plant & Procurement Director at Tamdown, commented, “We work collaboratively with our supply chain and the relationship we have built together with Does over many years, coupled with their ability to consistently deliver both value and quality, is why the relationship goes from strength to strength. These new dumpers, with their enhanced safety features and robust construction, helps our workforce to deliver Operational Excellence for our clients, across all our sites.”

Tamdown’s position as a key player in the groundwork sector makes this deal particularly significant. The collaboration between Ernest Doe, Thwaites Dumpers, and Tamdown represents the best of what can be achieved when you combine experience, trust and exceptional products.
