Hyundai & Cummins To Develop Electric Mini
Hyundai and Cummins have announced that they are collaborating on the further development of an electric-powered mini-excavator. This is in response to the expectation that mini-excavators working in urban environments will be increasingly required to produce zero exhaust emissions and be significantly quieter in operation than diesel-powered machines.
The 3.5-tonne prototype mini uses eight Cummins BM4.4E lithium ion batteries to provide a total power rating of 35kWh. It is designed to operate for a full eight-hour shift on a single charge and provide a full recharge time of just three hours.
