Hyundai's new HX220AL excavator
Hyundai has launched its new A-series HX220AL excavator, one of the company’s first Stage 5 ready machines. Described as a ‘game changer’ by its maker, the HX220AL boasts a new hydraulic flow regulation, improved operator controls with 2D/3D machine guidance, new safety features, and improved uptime and productivity, as well as its Stage 5 emissions-compliant Cummins B6.7 engine platform.
The 174hp HX220AL incorporates some of Hyundai’s latest technology, including ‘Electric Positive Flow Control’, which results in better fuel efficiency and controllability by a flow reduction technique for excavator operations, plus Eco guidance to increase an operator’s fuel efficiency, and machine guidance/machine control, which automatically controls the attachment to assist the driver. Furthermore, like every other Hyundai A-series excavator, the HX220AL comes equipped with several new service features that have been developed and tested with the aim of improving machine uptime. These include engine connected diagnostics (ECD), machine connected diagnostics (MCD), remote software updates and monthly report generation, both via Hyundai’s HiMATE service.
Key specs for the new Hyundai HX220AL include an operating weight of 22,100kg, a maximum digging depth of 6.73m, a maximum digging reach of 9.98m, a tail swing radius of 2.89m, and a bucket breakout force of 165kN (ISO).
