JCB boom time for McKinty Construction Ltd

A leading commercial and agricultural construction company has purchased two of the first new JCB A45EH articulated booms in Northern Ireland. Purchased by County Antrim-based McKinty Construction Ltd, the new machines are being used at the AI Services artificial insemination bull stud in Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.

Supplied by local dealer Dennison JCB, the brand new JCB A45EH models join four JCB rough terrain forklifts and a JCB 140X in McKinty Construction Ltd’s fleet. McKinty Construction Ltd Director, Darren McKinty said: “We have a longstanding relationship with Dennison JCB, who offer us excellent back up and service. We find that JCB machines are robust, operator friendly and have low running costs.

“Being able to run the A45EH solely off battery power eliminates engine noise, giving a better working environment for our operators and also reducing fuel consumption.”

The JCB A45EH is a high lift capacity, low-emission hybrid power articulated boom. It uses a 14.8kW three-cylinder diesel engine and a 7.5kWa generator to power the machine’s eight 6V batteries. Maximum platform height is 13.84m, with a horizontal reach of up to 7.47m, providing an up and over clearance of 7.48m. The lift capacity is 300kg and the machine is capable of climbing up to 40% gradients.

McKinty Construction Ltd now run a team of between 30-40 employees and sub-contractors working on a variety of commercial and agricultural projects in Ireland. Within McKinty Construction Ltd’s range of plant the backbone consists of JCB excavators and RTFLs alongside the two new hybrid articulated booms.
