New Hitachi ZX130LCN-7 super long front excavator
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV introduced a new Zaxis-7 model in its super long front excavator range at bauma this year. The ZX130LCN-7 HE13 with 13m reach has a longer boom and arm than the standard ZX130-7 model. The manufacturer says the 14,900 to 15,400kg machine is ideal for light excavation work, as well as dredging rivers and lakes, bank maintenance and slope-finishing tasks.
Due to the proportions of the boom and arm, the 13-tonne model can also be used for loading, as trucks can be conveniently positioned close to the machine. Assembled at HCME’s Amsterdam factory in the Netherlands, this special application machine has been designed to meet the needs of European customers.
The efficiency of the ZX130LCN-7 excavator means that it delivers up to 9% less fuel consumption than the previous model. This is achieved with the help of Hitachi’s HIOS V hydraulic system. Life cycle costs are reduced with the new, 74kW Stage 5-compliant engine, which does not require an SCR system. This eliminates the need for urea, filter replacements and associated maintenance. The all-new Eco gauge, clearly visible on the cab’s multifunctional monitor, also allows operators to control fuel efficiency and reduce costs.

The state-of-the-art and ultra-spacious cab offers some of the lowest noise levels in the market, reckons Hitachi, and 16% less vibration than the previous generation. New features include the synchronised motion of the seat and console – to reduce operator fatigue – and the adjustable console height with three positions to choose from. There’s also an 8-inch screen with anti-glare technology, plus an improved pedal layout and ample head clearance help to make this the most spacious Hitachi cab yet.
Safety wise, the Hitachi ZX130LCN-7 is equipped with an Aerial Angle camera system providing a 270-degree bird’s-eye view, and users can choose from six image options to see the machine’s immediate environment. When working in challenging conditions, new LED work lights and a windscreen wiper with an increased sweeping area further improve visibility.
A wide range of new components have been fitted to the ZX130LCN-7 SLF to further enhance reliability. Improvements to the undercarriage, including a strengthened X-beam, reinforced idler brackets and enhanced idlers, have increased durability. Downtime is further minimised by the priority given to easy maintenance and cleaning, says Hitachi.
To enable owners to feel in total control of their fleet and workload, Hitachi’s remote monitoring systems, Owner’s Site and ConSite, give them access to vital data and tools. Both systems send operational data via GPRS or satellite from the excavator to Global e-Service on a daily basis. ConSite summarises the information in a monthly email, while the ConSite Pocket app shows real-time alerts for any potential issues.
