New Komatsu PC88MR-11 midi excavator
The new Komatsu PC88MR-11 midi excavator builds on the successful PC88MR-10 and is said to deliver a significant boost to productivity whilst cutting fuel consumption. With an operating weight of 8.5 to 8.75 tonnes, the new machine achieves a 4.57m digging depth and employs buckets with capacities ranging from 0.09 to 0.34 cubic metres.
Offered with a factory-fitted Lehnhoff Powertilt option, the new PC88MR-11 is powered by an improved, DPF-equipped Stage 5 engine that produces 68hp and features a fan clutch system that lowers noise and boosts fuel efficiency. The engine also does without SCR.
According to Komatsu, the PC88MR-11 boasts 7% greater productivity compared with the PC88MR-10 thanks to faster hoist and swing operations. It consumes 6% less fuel per hour, and has 14% faster levelling speed. Komatsu says its new PC88MR-11 also has 12% quicker oil flow than the model’s predecessor, and has a 20mm lower transport height.
Other highlights include a redesigned blade for more effective dozing, a relocated low/high gear switch, and an automatic change-over valve for when changing attachments. There's also a heated and air-suspended seat in the cab, plus Bluetooth connectivity, new large access doors for easier maintenance, attachment flow settings controlled through the in-cab monitor, and automatic 2-way to 1-way to 2-way attachment switching.
