Poclain Lookalike Uncovered

This machine is the L&T 300 built by a multi-faceted Indian company with a more Scandinavian sounding name, Larsen & Toubro. The L&T 300 tips the scales at 53.4 tonnes (53,400kgs) and is powered by a Cummins diesel engine which offers a power output of 320hp @1900rpm. L&T Ltd was originally founded in Bombay by two Danish engineers, Holck Larsen and S.K Toubro as far back as 1938. The company began building Poclain excavators under licence for the Indian domestic market in 1975. In 1992 the company built their very first L&T model, the 13 tonne class 72CK which was based on Poclain technology. In more recent times L&T have been part of a joint venture with Komatsu of Japan to build machines for the Indian market. For this current machine the upper body red and light grey and dark grey undercarriage livery of Poclain still lives on, as does the model number signage on the bodywork as you can see in the photo above and in the original Poclain 300 pictured below.   All very interesting stuff and I thank Herve for highlighting this in the Technique TP Facebook group.
