Ritchie Bros’ Moerdijk Live Xperience
Last week, Ritchie Bros concluded its Moerdijk Live Xperience in The Netherlands, which attracted more than 3,000 on-site and online bidders from more than 80 countries and several hundred additional event attendees. The event’s main attraction, held from October 10th to 12th, was a large equipment auction featuring more than 3,800 items, trucks and other industrial assets.
“Our customers use our digital platforms every day to buy, manage and sell, but the Moerdijk Live Xperience underscored the irreplaceable value of connecting face-to-face. This premier event allowed our auctioneers and bid catchers to conduct an exciting live auction with onsite and online bidding,” said Sam Wyant, President of International Sales at Ritchie Bros. “It was quite an experience to see the auctioneers back in action in Moerdijk for the first time in nearly three years. We had a great crowd coming in on auction day to bid, as well as hundreds of online bidders from all over the world joining the live auction and Timed Auctions.”
Over the three event days, more than 440 excavators, 640 boom and scissor lifts, 130 wheel loaders and other equipment items, trucks and vehicles were sold to the highest bidders. An additional live auction was conducted from Moerdijk on Tuesday, featuring 60 heavy equipment items located in the UK and formerly operated by Irish quarrying contractor McCabe Earthworks.
Highlights of the Moerdijk auction included a 2020 Mercedes-Benz AROCS 2640 Concrete Pump Truck which sold for €165,000, a 2022 Magni RTH 6.25 Telescopic Forklift which sold for €160,000, a 2020 Doosan DX235LCR-5 Excavator which sold for €97,000, a 2016 Case IH Magnum 340 ROWT MFWD Tractor which sold for €86,000, and a 2005 Spierings SK 1265 AT-6 6 Axle Tower Crane which sold for €142,500
Connecting with the industry
The Moerdijk Live Xperience featured other unique ways for customers to connect with the industry. Event visitors attended a mini tradeshow with exhibits from various brands and solutions, including Mascus, Rouse, SmartEquip, Ritchie Bros. Financial Services, RB Logistics and more. On Tuesday afternoon, on-site attendees also enjoyed an Insights Session with industry expert speakers Sebastian Popp (CECE), Chris Sleight (Off Highway Research) and Alex Schuessler (SmartEquip).
The experts took the audience through fascinating trends in the equipment industry in a series of engaging presentations and ended with an interactive panel discussion. One of the topics the speakers unpacked was the shift in equipment supply and demand in the European market and how this could impact the equipment industry in 2024.
