Volvo excavators delivered
MW Groundworks, based in South Lanarkshire, has taken delivery of two new Volvo excavators for its specialist contracting and land clearance business.
The 14-tonne EC140E and 22-tonne EC220E machines are manufactured by Volvo and replace older variants of equal weight. “Both sizes of machine fit in well with the typical contracts we undertake,” says MW Groundworks proprietor, Mark Wang. “For example, the EC140E is equipped with a Steelwrist Tilt Rotator. This makes it a highly flexible machine, especially for working in confined spaces. Whereas the EC220E has plenty of capacity for site clearance and muck shifting duties.”
Powering the EC140E is Volvo’s 121hp four-cylinder diesel engine, while the EC220E houses a 174hp six-cylinder diesel motor. Both engines are Stage V compliant.
Each Volvo excavator features an integrated work mode system, ensuring maximum hydraulic horsepower is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. The EC140E and EC220E also feature boom and arm geometry optimised for fast and effective digging. Meanwhile, hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders, as well as quick-fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.
