A New Era for Doosan Mini Excavators

Doosan has launched the first of its new generation of mini excavators, with the introduction of the DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7 models, which both share the new global range styling.

A New Era for Doosan Mini Excavators

I think its fair comment to say that Doosan’s offerings in the 5 to 6-tonne mini excavator range, while still extremely popular and continuing to sell like hot cakes, have for some time now looked rather dated in terms of looks, so the news that they are among the first models to be upgraded is fantastic news for the dedicated Doosan followers.

Both machines feature the latest Doosan D18 Stage V emissions compliant engine, which offers a power output rating of 36.4kW (48.8hp) @2200 RPM, and according to Doosan offer the highest power and torque in their class.

The zero-tail swing and reduced radius models respectively are ideal for today’s ever congested sites in a wide range of applications including construction, landscaping and utilities work.

Doosan also suggest that both new mini-excavators offer a larger working range than other equivalent machines on the market, coupled with higher lifting capacities and digging forces.

These machines also offer a high auxiliary flow of 80 l/min to enhance work with attachments.

Newly designed cast counterweights ensure excellent machine balance and stability when working. In addition, a 200 kg bolt-mounted counterweight option is available for the DX55R-7 for increased stability, especially when using heavier attachments and such items as tiltrotators.

As well as offering the best performance, versatility, durability and ease of maintenance in the 5-6 tonne range, the DX50Z-7 and DX55R-7 mini-excavators feature a new larger, roomier cab, providing excellent operator comfort and controllability.

Talking of the cab, it features the high level of creature comforts that we have seen rolled out on their larger Dash-7 models, and an all new, all glass entry door offers superb visibility to the operators nearside, and at night the fitment of LED working lights will further enhance visibility during winter hours or night shift operations.

We look forward to getting “hands on” with these new models for Earthmovers Magazine in due course for a full report, but in the meantime, checkout this Korean video, from the geeky Goollosa TV You Tube account, which features the machines, that our friends and Construction Collective colleagues over at Diggers and Dozers discovered and showed on Mark Anthony’s Break Fast Show, last week. (Tune in weekday mornings from 10am) enjoy.
