A New Era for Volvo Articulated Haulers

This time last week we were privileged to be invited to attend the launch event for Volvo Construction Equipment’s latest range of ADT’s.

A New Era for Volvo Articulated Haulers

The Braås, Sweden, based manufacturer has been leading the way with articulated haulers for nearly 60 years, and this newly upgraded and expanded range will see Volvo CE remain at the top of the game in ADT design and technology for years to come.

The revamped line up now features seven models, ranging from the A25 right up to the A60, and has been joined by a whole new weight class with the introduction of the A50, slotting in between the A45 and A60, offering customers even more choice.

The new A50 has a payload capacity of 45 tons and Volvo CE suggests that it offers 10% more productivity and 8% better fuel efficiency compared to the previous generation A45GFS.

In addition to this, service costs are reduced by up to 6% over 12,000 hours of operation due to simplified servicing, longer change intervals and easy component access.

The full range of haulers has been enhanced with a redesigned cab, prioritising operator comfort. Additionally, a larger windscreen and a lower hood have been implemented to improve visibility.

The updated lineup replaces the A35G, A40G, and A45G models, while the A25G, A30G, and A60H will remain in production until later this year. The first wave, including the A40, A50, A35, and A45, will be available in select markets soon, with the remaining models scheduled for a second wave launch later in the year.

Melker Jernberg, President of Volvo CE, emphasised the company’s legacy and ongoing commitment to innovation, “For nearly 60 years, we have been leading the way with our range of articulated haulers. The launch of a new range of outstanding products, including the completely new A50 model, proves there are no limits to our capacity for innovation”.

I will be taking a closer look at some of the new models from the operator's perspective in an upcoming edition of Earthmovers Magazine.
