All-Traction Excavator & Dumper Combo a Smart Idea
Finnish entrepreneur Jussi Mantsinen came up with this unique excavator/dumper concept over a year ago and is now looking for somebody to purchase the production rights.
As reported by our friend Arto Turpeinen of Finnish magazine Koneviesti, the Motoko, which can be built to fit tracked excavators from 1-40 tonnes in weight, features a dump body, but can equally be fitted with a flat bed platform, or a cable drum carrier.

Specially designed and fully powered oscillating tracks are fitted to both excavator and trailer, to maximise traction across difficult terrain, in addition hydraulic powered articulation offers excellent manoeuvrability.

The Motoko concept can also be applied to wheeled excavators, similar to those we see on a regular basis in Scandinavia.
Arto and the team at Konviesti secured a rare opportunity to try out the machine, which is based on a Doosan DX62R model, fitted with, as one might expect from a Nordic spec machine, a tiltrotator, in this instance is from Engcon.
