Bobcat Spotted at the Zoo
We kicked off this week with a new medium sized all-electric hydraulic excavator from John Deere, but in today’s post we are downsizing a bit with another look at Bobcat’s E10e electric mini excavator.
Bobcat first launched its 1-tonne E10e as the world’s first battery powered electric zero tail swing mini excavator at the Bauma trade fair in Munich back in 2019, it subsequently made its first UK appearance at the Executive Hire Show in February 2020 shortly before the world went Covid crazy!
Based on the hugely successful diesel powered E10, the machine was developed in conjunction with other electric vehicle suppliers, at Bobcat EMEA’s impressive Innovation Centre in Dobris, Czech Republic a facility I have been lucky enough to visit on numerous occasions over the years.
I was trawling the web over the weekend looking for interesting videos and I came across this one from Bobcat below which features the E10e paying a visit to a local zoo.
I couldn’t help but notice that the machine is once again being operated by a bit of a legend at the Bobcat institute, Tomas Mrkvicka, who is a Field Product Trainer with the manufacturer. Tomas features in many of the Bobcat videos and travels the world with Bobcat demonstrating at shows and events. Tomas was even out in an unseasonally wet Sicily, in Italy last year when we were there to test drive the new E88 R2 midi excavator for Earthmovers Magazine.
While its all a bit of fun, what the video does show is that these compact electric machines are ideal for working in noise sensitive areas, in this instance not causing any alarm or distress to valuable animals in the zoo collection.
