Hey Honey, I Shrunk the Yanmar SV86-7

Scale models of diggers are big business these days, and even more so at this special time of the year, so if you are stuck for a gift idea for that construction machinery fanatic in your life, look no further than Yanmar!

Those fine folks over at Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA, have very kindly sent over, and example of their very latest miniature midi-excavator model the SV86-7 which has been produced in 1/32^nd scale.

I don’t normally do scale model reviews, and I probably stopped collecting them when I was about 12 years old, but I do appreciate them and its always great to see super enthusiasts’ collections, especially when they are nicely presented in glass cabinets.

I have to say this Yanmar SV86-7 model is a thing of beauty, looking resplendent in the new corporate red paintwork and with some great detail throughout. Everything has been thought of including the silver auxiliary pipework on the dipper and main boom. It also features all metal tracks with separate links and in addition, the front idler is spring loaded to keep the tension on the track just like the real machine.

The cab is nicely detailed with all the relevant levers, joysticks, control panels and even the cup holder towards the rear of the interior. On the exterior there is a front facing work light, windscreen wiper, handrail and even an orange work beacon on the rear.

All the hydraulic equipment movements can be performed including full 360-degree slew, boom, dipper and bucket ram functionality, raising and lowering of the bulldozer blade, and full movement of the offset boom function.

Nice plastic trim for the offside gull wing style bonnet and exhaust completes the model which is largely fabricated from die cast metal.

All in all, this would be a great addition to any collectors display cabinet and its one I wouldn’t mind keeping for myself to be honest!
