Caterpillar… Its in the Blood
I came across this heart warming video over the weekend and figured it was worthy of a spot here on the Digger Man Blog.
For many people it appears that working for global construction and mining machinery giant Caterpillar is more than a job, it’s a way of life. Two such individuals are husband and wife team Bill and Angela Zimmerman who worked for the company for 35 years and unsurprisingly hail from Peoria, Illinois, the city that has historically been the spiritual home of the Cat brand.
Bill himself worked helping to engineer and test blades and transmission parts for the very first iconic D10 dozer which had been in development since 1973 and was officially launched in 1977.
With that in mind the team at the amazing Earthmoving Legacy Centre in Iowa, decided to give Bill and his wife a behind the scenes look at a stunning refurbishment job they are undertaking on one of their D10’s that forms part of this extensive collection of historical Caterpillar machines.
In this amazing video you can easily witness the couple’s pride for the Cat products that have formed such a large part of their lives together.
And as for the Earthmoving Legacy Centre, just wow, what an amazing place and one that I would certainly like to tick off the to do list in the future.
