Demo Expo 2019 Reached for the Sky

In a polar reverse of the Plantworx show earlier this year, glorious weather blessed last week’s Demo Expo event which was held at the Hertfordshire County Showground over 3 days culminating on the Saturday which was a family affair.

Demo Expo 2019 Reached for the Sky
We were unable to attend the show due to other engagements, but our friends over at Demolition News have sent us a whole batch of their artistic style photos from their visit, some of which I will share in this post giving us a flavour of the event. The show is arranged by the NFDC and IDE with input from a number of companies who are key players in the demolition industry, including contractors, attachment dealers and machinery manufacturers and dealers. From what I’ve seen online this year’s event was not the biggest, but in all fairness, its been a busy year for shows and I for one am all showed out to be honest. Demolition is a niche sector but its good to see that they have enough interest to stage their own event. Marubeni-Komatsu brought along a whole raft of machines including the new PC490HRD-11 High Reach Demolition spec hydraulic excavator, which is made in the UK at the Komatsu facility in Birtley in the North East of England, its certainly an impressive piece of kit. Chelmsford based Northeast Demolition Ltd brought along a range of machines from their portfolio in what would have been a relatively local show for them. Most impressive on the stand would have to be their JCB JS370LC high reach machine which was displayed with its alternative excavation boom and arm assembly. It takes all shapes and sizes to conduct demolition exercises and this “little & large” photo demonstrates the diversity of products at the disposal of contractors. Representing the large we have Rye Demolition’s Hitachi Zaxis 490LC-6 towering over a 1-tonne class Bobcat E10 mini excavator. Finning UK & Ireland were not at the show this time around but some Cat products could be found around the showground like this Cat 730 articulated hauler owned by M O’Brien Plant Hire. With an eye on working indoors on sensitive demolition projects, JCB brought along their all new 19C-1E electric mini excavator which was drawing a lot of attention from visitors to the show. There really is a drive towards electric machines now and we expect to see a lot more of this going forward. LiuGong Direct UK, the new name for LuiGong in the UK already have a big presence in the UK demolition market thanks to the efforts of the former dealers CPMS who have all now been incorporated into the LiuGong Direct business. The Chinese manufacturer has recently passed the 400,000 wheeled loaders manufactured milestone which they celebrated at the show. Long established attachment dealers Worsley Plant were at the show where Sean Heron and his team had a wide range of products from their portfolio to show visitors, including mulchers, selector grabs and shears from Dutch manufacturer Rotar. Also from Holland, Pladdett’s UK division headed by Aaron Maslen displayed a range of its products including selector grabs. As a fitting in memory tribute J. Mould of Reading had their new Liebherr High Reach machine emblazoned with a photo of well known and loved Liebherr salesman Darren Bennet who sadly passed away earlier this year.
