Diggers Royal Cornwall Show Highlights (Part Three)

There was so much to see at the Royal Cornwall Show again this year and so much material was gathered that it’s taking a while to get out, but here we are with Part Three of the series focusing on our friends over at Holt JCB.

Diggers Royal Cornwall Show Highlights (Part Three)

Holt JCB Ltd always have a busy stand at the RCS, and this year was no different, a warm welcome awaited us as we stopped by to catch up with Kate Shields, Paul Butcher and the delightful Neve Hudson their new Digital Marketing guru.

There was plenty of new kit on display including two new X-Series excavators comprising of 14-tonne class 140XLC and a 22-tonne 220XLC sporting the colours of Helston and Exeter based MJL Contractors, in a nice touch, even the buckets were colour coded!

The backhoe loader is still the iconic machine in the JCB line up, and on the stand, they presented the latest 4CX Pro models that would be winging its way to long standing Cornish customer, Newquay based P.R. Weldhen, who were featured in my report in the January edition of Earthmovers Magazine.

There was something for everyone and this little JCB 403 Plus compact loader looked a tidy piece of kit fitted out with an agricultural silage fork and grab set up, something of particular interest to the large rural community in the West Country.

Rapidly expanding Cornish business Duchy Plant Hire had a number of brand-new units on the stand including this 1-tonne class JCB 1 T-2 High Tip site dumper.

In a refreshing move away from the norm, Holt JCB’s used equipment division headed by the legendary Steve Powesland, presented a superb example of a JCB 140XLC, this machine had previously been run by an owner operator who has traded in for a new model, one has to say the machine is an absolute credit to him, and it demonstrated that a good quality used machine like this is a great option for those working to a budget, as opposed to buying brand new.

We especially loved the punchline on the machine which really captured the spirit of it all, ‘Same Machine – Different Customer – Same Great Service’.

Take a short walk around part of the stand with our You Tube short video.
