Hidromek’s Electric Machine Wins Top German Design Award

Forward thinking and innovative Turkish construction equipment manufacturer Hidromek has received an award in the German Design 2020 competition with its newly developed 100% electric wheeled excavator HICON 7W.

The German Design Award 2020 is regarded as one of the most distinguished design awards in the world. The awards are organized every year by the German Design Council, the prizes are awarded to projects that make pioneering contributions to the area of international design. Hidromek, was granted a “Special Mention” in the German Design Awards event in 2017 for its HMK 600 MG motor grader and the winning award in 2018 for the HMK 640 WL wheel loader, and has now added a yet another award for its HICON 7W.

Hidromek’s 100% electric HICON 7W has been developed as an economic and eco-friendly machine for the future, with adoption of electric powered construction machinery expected to increase over the coming decade. With its compact dimensions, enhanced safety systems and zero emissions at point of use, this machine is ideally suited for urban jobsites.

The HICON 7W was a big hit on Hidromek’s stand during the Bauma Trade Fair earlier this year, always drawing a big crowd as it addressed them via its rear mounted screen, its an impressive piece of kit for sure. Maybe next year, we will be lucky enough to get a "hands on" experience with this machine, its something I'm looking forward too!
