Inside view of what’s to come at Bauma

Bauma is without a doubt the biggest construction plant and machinery trade fair “in the world” and in all fairness, everything else ends up looking a bit like the village fete! In many ways its too big, so you need to plan to make sure you get around to see what you want to see during your allocated time in Munich.

Inside view of what’s to come at Bauma
Our friend Aaron Maslen of attachment manufacturers Pladdet has been on the massive showground assisting with the set up of their stand and has kindly sent us some taster shots of what in excess of 70,000 visitors can expect to see next week. Once again this year it would appear that Komatsu have stolen the show in terms of the largest machine at the show, not as big as 3 years ago, but the 400 tonne class PC4000 is still an impressive sight and is sure to draw the crowds to the stand. As at previous Bauma’s the Liebherr stand has to be the most impressive going, as you would expect with the show taking place on the company’s "home turf”. The temporary structure that is the focal point of their stand never ceases to amaze me. There will be plenty to see around the stand too including the R 9200 in face shovel configuration which was featured in 2016, but this year will be an electric drive version. I will be spending my first two days at the show with Liebherr so look out for updates on our social media channels. Kato and Kato Imer will be displaying a number of their excavators and for many of us it will be a chance to see examples of their heavy line products like the eagerly awaited 14 tonne class HD514MR seen here sporting a Pladdet selector grab. There will also be a first glimpse of the HD1430LC 30 tonne class excavator. These machines will soon be available in the UK with dealer Kato Imer UK expecting to receive stock in the not too distant future. Dominating the skyline at the Messe Munchen, in the extended outdoor plot, will be Wacker Neuson’s big wheel, dubbed the “Bauma Eye” by some. As I understand it visitors to the stand will be able to take a ride and enjoy stunning views of the showground as well as resting those tired feet that we all suffer from at Bauma! Caterpillar will once again be in their spiritual home at Bauma in hall B6 where they will present in excess of 60 machines from across the range and associated technology. These wheeled loaders were spotted by Aaron waiting to be located inside the hall at their designated positions. It makes you think about the logistics involved in staging a show of such enormous proportions! A sea of orange will await visitors to the Hitachi Construction Equipment stand and there is sure to be something to appeal to everyone who visits. Largest machine on the stand is the EX2600 which will be displayed in face shovel guise. Finally in this batch of shots, a look at the Mecalac stand. The French manufacturer always puts on a good display of its unique and stylish machines and I expect much of the same this year. You can expect a warm welcome on the stand too from the British contingent from the Mecalac facility in Coventry. So there we have it, just a small glimpse of some of the products that await visitors to the Bavarian machinery fest, maybe I’ll see you there!
