JCB Backhoe Loader “This is Your Life”
Our friends over at Diggers & Dozers have been offered some exclusive and amazing access to the JCB film archives and in the hands of the incredibly talented Freddie Anthony aka Freddie Spielberg, they have put together a cracking video featuring some of the backhoe loader highlights over the years.
JCB’s involvement with the iconic backhoe loader began in 1953 with the introduction of the JCB Mk 1. A simple machine by today’s standards based on a Fordson tractor with JCB’s backhoe mounted on the rear and its Major Loader arms and bucket to the fore, this machine was the catalyst for all the machines that followed and set the benchmark as Europe’s first fully hydraulic backhoe loader.
Just 10 years later the most famous model number was created with the introduction of the JCB 3C in 1963. A machine, in its various upgrade stages, that I personally spent many hours in as a child going to work with my late father, who absolutely loved the 3C and hardly ever drove anything else.
The most radical change to the JCB backhoe loader came in 1980 with the introduction of the all new 3CX which like so many JCB machines, had been researched and developed under complete secrecy for many years under the codename Project 200.
Development and innovation has always been at the core of JCB and the recent production milestone of their 750,000th machine bares testament to that long standing dedication. The company also recently launched the latest reincarnation of its 3CX backhoe loader with 3 new Sitemaster models, namely the Eco, Plus and Pro.
But enough of my ramblings, just sit back and enjoy this cracking video from Freddie!
