Komatsu Took the Crown for Largest Wheeled Loader at Minexpo.
Komatsu showcased what was not only the largest wheeled loading shovel at Minexpo in Las Vegas last month, but what also holds the title of the worlds largest wheeled loading shovel.
This beast of a machine has been around in various guises for many years, most notably from its origins as the Le Tourneau L-2350, and has been featured on this blog a number of times over the years.
The statistics for the now Komatsu WE2350 are mind blowing: With an operating weight of 266,259kg, the machine is powered by a 16-cylinder power pack coming from either Cummins or MTU producing a staggering 1.715kw (2,300hp) to power the massive bucket which has a load capacity of 40.52 m3.
The fuel tank holds a whopping 3,974 litres (1,050 US gallons) that must be some fuel bill over the course of a week, whilst the hydraulic oil tank holds some 1,230 litres (320 US gal). The 70/70-57 SRG DT tyres have a diameter of 4 m, and a width of 1.78 m).

Our friends over at the Diggers and Dozers You Tube channel took part in a sponsored visit to Minexpo and true to form captured some stunning footage of the beast in one of the convention centre halls. There is some great use of guests milling around the loader for scale, and there is even a rare appearance of the video genius behind Diggers and Dozers himself, Freddie Anthony, towards the end of the footage, squaring up in front of one of the wheels.
