Latest JCB X Series Spotted
People’s appetite to catch a glimpse of the very latest machines continues unabated, most recently images have appeared on social media of the much-anticipated next model in JCB’s X Series range, the reduced tail swing 245XR.
As is often the case with these new machines, they are developed and tested in complete secrecy until the time is right to launch, but we know some have been seen out on field trials, so it must be pretty imminent. In fact, I know that one is coming to my area shortly and I will be hoping to catch up with it once it arrives.
With an operating weight of 25,284-27,299kgs depending on specification, the 245XR is powered by JCB’s EcoMAX 448 Stage IV engine which offers a power output rating of 129kW (173hp) and will build on the success of the 220X LC conventional tail swing model. With its compact dimensions the tail swing radius is said to be around 1,720mm.
State-of-the-art Japanese hydraulic components are used throughout and from what I hear an even more powerful slew motor is fitted on this model.
The machine features the same sized CommandPlus cab as fitted to the conventional tail swing models already launched in the range.
Available with a choice of either mono or tab booms and a choice of long or short dipper sticks this +25-tonne base weight machine will be an important addition to the X Series line up and it continues to roll out.
I for one am really looking forward to getting a closer look at one real soon!
