Marttiini from Finland with love

During my trip to Finland earlier this year I stumbled across another tiltrotator manufacturer that I had not heard of before. Marttiini Metal Oy are based in Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland in the north of the country and make arguably some of the strongest tiltrotator’s in the world.

Walking around Hitachi dealership Rotator Oy’s yard during the Mansen Morinat event I spotted a new ZX350LC-6 hydraulic excavator which was sporting one of the largest tiltrotators I had ever seen, which featured some solid looking ram guards. The blue and orange paintwork matched that of the Hitachi perfectly and the whole set up looked very well engineered. The Marttiini mTilt-40 is designed for excavators from 34-40 tonnes and combines with the lower mRx-40 rotator which the company say is the largest rotator unit for this size on the market. Build height looks quite high to me but only time in the seat would tell in terms of any loss in breakout force. Marttiini make a wide range of tiltrotators, tilting hitches and rotation only solutions and products can be mixed and matched to suit individual requirements. This video from our friends at Koneporssi shows an older and smaller unit at work in an underground mine in Finland.
I am not aware of any dealers for these products in the UK as yet, but they might be one to lookout for in the future as more and more forward thinking plant people embrace the concept.
