Menzi Muck Flexes its Muscles at Bauma

The Swiss built Menzi Muck ‘spider’ excavators are always impressive to see in action and the displays they put on during Bauma clearly demonstrate the machines flexibility and versatility.

When it comes to diggers, there is really nothing quite like these Menzi Muck specialist walking excavators, with their combination of the high-tech variable geometry chassis, wheels and feet, coupled with a unique boom and extendable dipper arm, there is not much terrain you couldn’t take these machines to work.

Powered by a Stage V emissions compliant Deutz 4-cylinder engine offering a power output of 115kw (156hp) the M545x has phenomenal lifting power and breakout forces which would normally be associated with much larger conventional excavators. According to Menzi Muck the 9.5-tonne machines has the same performance of a conventional 20-tonne crawler excavator.

The Menzi Muck demonstration operator never fails to impress the assembled crowds who flock to these this wonderful piece of kit in action, sadly every time I went past, I had missed the show, however, our friends over at Diggers and Dozers caught the display and you can watch their video below.
