New heavyweight excavator from Hidromek
I have followed the rise and increasing popularity of Turkish construction equipment manufacturer Hidromek, very closely during the past 5 years of blog writing. I was very lucky to be invited to the company’s factory in Ankara in July 2010 during my holiday in Turkey, and later for a series of site visits in 2011. So it’s with great delight that I now report on a new addition to the excavator manufacturers range.
During my discussions with Hidromek staff in the past, there had been a lot of talk about the company bringing a much larger machine to their product portfolio. The largest machine currently listed in their range of excavators is the 271hp HMK370LCHD, which has an operating weight of 38,350kgs. This machine will now be eclipsed at the top of the range, by the all new HMK540LCHD, which was announced last month and will compete in the 50 ton + market.
Technical details on the new machine are not yet readily available. The new model was recently displayed in public for the first time at the Izmir Marble Fair where it was certainly a star attraction.
Proudly seen here next to the new HMK540LCHD is Akay Ergun, Hidromek’s area sales manager for the Antalya region, who was our host during my site visits and test drives back in 2011. We thank Akay for the use of this photo.
Hidromek’s PR & Advertising Manager Kubra Koc, told the Digger Man Blog that the HMK540LCHD is unlikely to be appearing at Bauma, but who knows, it just might be a nice surprise for those of us who are visiting next week.
Here is a piece of video footage featuring the prototype Hidromek HMK540LC at work on the site of the new manufacturing facility in Ankara, Turkey, from our friends at Makina Market.
