New Komatsu shovel stars at Steinexpo

Our friend over at the Danish Construction Channel Lasse Holst, recently attended the Steinexpo event in Germany where he witnessed a demonstration of Komatsu’s latest big wheeled loading shovel.

New Komatsu shovel stars at Steinexpo
The 10th Steinexpo 2017 mining trade fair was held in Europe’s largest basalt quarry in Homberg, Germany. The event is often compared to our own Hillhead mining show but on steroids as it covers an area of some 180,000m2. The event attracted a total of 53,890 visitors who were treated to demonstrations of products by 293 exhibitors. Lasse, who’s Danish Construction Channel on You Tube recently passed the 100,000 subscribers milestone was one of those visitors and captured a significant amount of footage including the following video of the Komatsu WA600-8 in action at the quarry face. The shovel was loading Komatsu’s HD605-8 dump truck. Both units were fitted with Komatsu’s integrated payload meters which register the following: current load in the bucket, total quantity loaded in the cycle, remaining load quantity necessary for the cycle. According to Komatsu, this is especially helpful when loading trucks that do not have load weighing devices. Moreover, five different materials can be stored and displayed. The HD605-8 dump truck has two load status displays in the form of “traffic lights” visible to the driver of the loading machine. The signal shows the current loading status of the dump body. Even the dump truck driver sees the dump body's loading status in real time on the display in the cab. The scales are precise to ± 1% after calibration.
We thank Lasse for sharing this material with the Digger Man Blog.
