New Liebherr Compact Wheeled Excavators to Premiere at Bauma

The big news last week was that Liebherr will be presenting two new wheeled excavators to the public for the first time at Bauma.

New Liebherr Compact Wheeled Excavators to Premiere at Bauma

The following information comes courtesy of our Dutch friend and respected operator/journalist Roger Van Nispen.

The A 909 Compact and the A 911 Compact are two new models in the nine- and eleven-ton class respectively, which expand the Liebherr wheeled excavator portfolio. The A 909 Compact and the A 911 Compact are powerful machines that set new standards in their respective classes and offer customers an optimum solution for demanding applications.

With these two machines, Liebherr is expanding its comprehensive portfolio of mobile excavators: for the first time, two mobile excavators in the nine- and eleven-ton class are introduced. The new mobile excavators impress with their combination of a well-thought-out machine concept and user-friendly operation.

The A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact impress with their compact design and small swing radius at the rear (1.50 metres and 1.60 metres respectively) and front (2.00 metres and 2.10 metres respectively). The dimensions of the turning circle of only 3.86 metres also underline the compactness of the two machines. The same applies to the minimum turning circle. In combination with the total weight of 9.7 tonnes for the A 909 and 10.8 tonnes for the A 911, both mobile excavators can be used safely and flexibly, even in confined spaces thanks to the incorporation of four-wheel steering. Both machines have a fixed boom, which means that no offset is possible.

High flexibility in use thanks to maximum performance

In addition, the two excavators impress with their high stability levels and enormous excavation forces, which ensure high levels performance and productivity – even when working in hard soil. The powerful engine has an output of 55 kW (75 hp) or 80 kW (111 hp) and, depending on the version, is equipped with an SCR system and intercooler. The perfectly coordinated hydraulic system enables flexible, parallel working movements with an optimum supply to all users.

Optimal driving performance through stability and excellent off-road capabilities

The robust and reliable chassis design with integrated drive offers the best possible acceleration due to the high tractive force. The resulting high driving speed reduces the required transport time, which in turn saves costs. The Liebherr standard tyres ensure comfortable driving performance.

They ensure maximum stability and are available in various designs, such as twin or single tyres (optional). Speeder versions enable speeds of up to 37 km/h. In addition, new designs in the upper carriage area ensure maximum off-road capabilities: the wheels can move further in the direction of the upper carriage during an oscillating movement of the axle. In combination with the ground clearance and the pendulum angle of the undercarriage, this offers the A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact maximum traction.

Maintenance-friendly machine design

With their intelligent and service-oriented machine design, the new small excavators have a well-thought-out maintenance concept. The durability of the high-quality components ensures low service costs and therefore minimal downtimes for maintenance and servicing. Considering the entire life cycle of the new mobile excavators, the total costs from purchase to sale are ultimately low – without compromising on quality.

A large number of components are also maintenance-free, which means that no daily maintenance is required. If maintenance is required, the most important components can be reached from ground level, including refuelling, which enables simple, fast and, above all, safe maintenance. The high availability of spare parts and the proven Liebherr service quality round off the excellent overall package when it comes to maintenance and servicing.

Comfortable cabin with individual controls and excellent visibility

The two new excavators impress with a number of advantages for the operator. In particular, the comfortably designed cab offers sufficient space in the head and foot area, as well as driver-specific adjustment of the controls. The new standard-fit INTUSI control system (Intuitive User Interface) enables individual assignment of functions and thus maximum flexibility in daily work.

The generously designed glass surfaces provide the best possible visibility in all directions and thus make a significant contribution to the safety of the working environment. The additional sliding window in the door enables the operator to communicate optimally with people outside.

In terms of ergonomics, the A 909 Compact and A 911 Compact also offer the operator a comfortable working environment thanks to consoles that move with the seat, as well as low noise emissions and vibrations.

We look forward to seeing these new machines during our visit to the Liebherr stand at Bauma in April.
