Orange Crush
Sometimes we find that a machine just looks right, and you can tell before you’ve even sat in it, that it will be a cracking piece of kit. That’s the feeling I get from looking at the all-new Hitachi ZX95US-7.
The machine apparently made its European debut during the Bauma Trade Fair in Munich last October, but for some reason I completely missed it, so I was delighted to find an image of it making an appearance on the Hitachi Construction Equipment stand at Samoter 2023 in Verona, Italy.
The ZX95US-7 and its off-set boom variant, the ZX95USB-7, compete in the highly competitive 9-tonne class sector. Technical specifications on this stylish compact radius excavator, have been hard to find at the moment, but what we do know is that power comes from a Stage V emissions compliant diesel engine, and the machine has 4% extra digging force compared to the old ZX85USB model. Different boom combinations are available including mono and TAB boom, in addition to optional dipper stick lengths.
I especially like the US fixed boom version which looks to be able to clean right up to the dozer blade in the classic “dustpan & brush” style. Talking of the dozer blade, options are available for a float function for ease of grading, and an angle dozer blade for easier back filling of trenches and side casting.
Perhaps the most striking feature is the all-new cab which looks to be spacious and well-appointed. I remember spending time on the old 6-tonne class UH02 and EX60 models in the past, and they were cracking bits of kit, I would imagine this would be on another level, and I look forward to getting a shot in the seat of one of these in the not-too-distant future, its fair to say, I have a bit of a crush on them!
