Summersby Plant stick with JCB 3CX
Owner operator Stefan Summersby, chose JCB again last year, when he purchased a JCB 3CX ECO model, from local Westcountry dealer Holt JCB. Earlier this year I worked on the same site as Stefan in Brixham in Devon and snapped a few shots of the man and his JCB in action.
Trading as Summersby Plant hire, Stefan Summersby operates from his base in the seaside town of Brixham in Devon. Like many of us, Stefan started in the plant & machinery game at a very young age, and has gained his experience on a whole host of job sites in the Westcountry over the years. He also runs an 8 ton Hitachi midi excavator, which is available on an operated basis. But Stefan’s speciality is the backhoe loader, having owned a number of JCB’s in the past, when it was time to upgrade again last year, Stefan had no hesitation in opting for the latest model from the famous Staffordshire manufacturer.
Stefan opted for an all singing all dancing model, as one would expect for an owner operator, with the highest specification he could get, including optional extra’s like fully automatic backhoe quick hitch, street pads for the stabilizers, full air-conditioning, powerslide boom offset, and most importantly to Stefan the Advanced Easy Control seat mounted servo controls set up. According to Stefan, the seat mounted servo controls are a must commenting, “I wouldn’t have any machine without them it simply makes operating so much easier”.
Talking to me about his decision to stick with JCB Stefan said, “I have looked at other brands on numerous occasions, but I like the JCB product and in particular I like the support and back up I receive from the team at Holt JCB, it helps when you can pick up the phone if you have a problem and you can talk to someone you know and who understands the product inside out, and for that matter, understands my needs as an owner operator”.
Stefan certainly looked like he was enjoying his work when I snapped this shot of him working away digging out for some internal drainage on a small housing development in Brixham, or maybe he was just a bit camera shy!
We wish Stefan all the best with his new JCB and look forward to catching up with him again one day.
