When is a Skidsteer not a Skidsteer… When it’s a SwingSteer!
Just when you think you have seen it all in skid steer compact loaders, along comes an entirely different approach to the concept.
Fargo in North Dakota, United States, is a place that has become synonymous with skid steer loader production thanks to a very well known white liveried brand. But it also happens to be the location of the MAC Company which was founded in 2019 by two guys, Peter Christianson and Tom Lykken who came up with an entirely different approach to the steering aspect of machines like this.
With a combined 90 years of equipment industry experience and led by Tom’s engineering mind, they came up with an innovative idea to add articulated steering to a compact loader that would minimise damage to the ground surface, especially on turfed areas such as large lawns and golf courses.
Tom’s creativity, innovative approach to product development and previous engineering experience, including articulated steering, powertrains and hydraulics was critical to the development of the SwingSteer SW-380 and all the attachments that make it a versatile machine.
The MAC Company has its headquarters in West Fargo, where both the SwingSteer SW-380 and their ProSeries range of attachments are designed and manufactured.
When we are so used to seeing conventional skid steer loaders and more recently the increasingly popular Compact Tracked Loaders these machines do look a bit weird, but for on grass applications it does make a lot of sense to be honest.
