Sany’s Big Boy Lands in the UK

The UK’s first 50-tonne class Sany SY500H has now landed with TDL Equipment and is being prepared ready to go out on a series of demonstrations around the UK. The third largest excavator in the Sany range the SY500H had a dominating presence in the storage yard sat on its "beefy" 600mm double grouser track pads, it certainly looked like a bit of a beast!

Tipping the scales at 50,100kgs, power comes from a 6-cylinder Cummins QSB12 engine which is Tier 4 Final emissions compliant and offers a power output rating of 298kw (400hp) @2,100rpm.

In addition to the blue-chip engine unit, the machine features a whole host of quality Japanese components too in particular the well proven Kawasaki hydraulics, offering smooth delivery and precision as well as power. The machine offers a maximum digging depth of 27ft 1" (8255mm) and a maximum reach at ground level of 17ft 2" (5237mm).

The cab looked to be well-appointed with all the creature comforts you could need, there was plenty of plastic fittings, but I was delighted to see there was no wood effect plastic trim like we saw on some earlier Sany machines.

All Sany excavators are being sold with 3 years powertrain warranty and an impressive 5 years/10,000 hours boom, chassis & dipper arm warranty such is the confidence in the manufacturers build quality. From a personal point of view, one has to say that the machines are now starting to look a lot more modern in design and styling compared to the earlier machines and according to Dealer Principal at TDL Equipment Andrew Taylor, the machines are being well received out on sites and virtually no issues with reliability

.

On the day of our visit the machine had only arrived a day or so before having travelled up from Bristol docks and as such it had no bucket. One is currently being fabricated by the guys down at Keen Attachments. We have been promised a First Drive feature on the machine when it goes out on its demo tour, so one to look forward too if it happens. In the meantime, checkout my walkaround videos from the day at TDL Equipment Ltd.
