Erith Goes Green with Kovaco Electric Skid Steers

Kent based earthworks and demolition specialists the Erith Group have become the latest business to invest in Kovaco battery powered electric skid steers.

My friend, Construction Collective colleague and fellow contributor to Earthmovers Magazine, Peter Haddock, recently visited the team at Erith in Dartford, where he met Plant Director, Shaun Bean, to find out how the company intends to use the new all-electric fleet of Elise 900’s, to replace their existing diesel machines.

It was also interesting to hear about how the team had put in some in-depth research and product testing to ensure they were making the right investment, and to ensure that the machines can actually operate for the 8+ hours, under real site conditions as quoted by the manufacturer.

This extreme form of testing even involved removing parts and panels around the main structure of the machine, to see what if any damage could potentially be done to the machine in the event of an accidental impact!

Having spent some time in one of these machines last year, I can echo the sentiments about them being a well built and quality piece of equipment
